Coursework Thriller Film Opening 11 Soundtrack

Soundtrack

We explored a number of sites including Sound cloud, Music Archive and Purple Planet. But we mainly used Purple Plant as we thought it most useful.

http://www.purple-planet.com/

Tense

  • Spy story
  • The Orphanage
  • Turning the Screw
  • Impending doom

Mysterious background

  • Disturbed
  • Entombed

Dark background

  • Necropolis
  • Wrong Turn
  • Evil around
Relaxing
  • Deep serenity
  • Reiki healing
  • Crystal waters

We have decided to go with "Disturbed" as compared with the others the soundtrack does not take attention from the actual footage and is consistence all the way through.

We found amother "detective caution" on youtube and thought it fitted really well in the opening therefore we used it.

Coursework Thriller Film Opening 10 Editing

EDITING

We will be manly using Adobe After effect and Premiere pro.

Premiere pro(first attempt) We just tried to put the clips together to have a feel of what it looked like. Our first thought is its to dark which can be fixed by color grading. Transition between shot were to choppy so we separated the clips to have a smoother transition between shots.

This is our second attempt at editing, we use our new footage (retake).

Colour grading

we set the color to create a warm feeling

Coursework Thriller Film Opening 9 Filming process

FILMING

We have decided to film on the 23rd of Monday at night. At Hydepark Bangkok. First we scouted the place and asked for permission.

We tried to find a location where there was minimal houses and people to create an isolated feeling. First we were going to use an unused land but the view of the lake was blocked there we used one of the long road outlooking the lake. We tried filming we had sun light but we thought it didn't fit with the theme, so we film when it was dark. Once we started filming it was too dark, we couldn't see much, but we filmed anyway.

We will be filming again as footage was not good enough. It was too dark, camera shakes making it very unpleasant too watch.

Second time: 31st Jan

This time our footage came out well, with good lighting and shots were well placed and we also had a tripod to create more stable and meaningful  shots. No retake is needed.

Coursework Thriller Film Opening 8 Risk assement

RISK ASSEMENT

The risk involved in the making of this film opening

  • First thing is the possible car accident. We will primarily working or filming on the street. If not careful we may be hit or in danger the people whose driving. To prevent or lower the risk of the happening we decided to film when theres minimal cars. Either late at night or early morning.

  • Secondly is the lake near the filming location. The lake is out of bound without a supervisor. It is also possible that we may drop camera gear into the lake. To prevent this we have decided to stay away from the lake to avoid falling into the lake or dropping any thing into it.

  • In the film there is a killing scene involving a wire around the neck. This may lead to serious injuries. To prevent this from happening we will try to be gentle and not put to much force on the wire and use a suitable material that wont leave a rash or scratch on the actor.

  • At night we might come across strangers who have bad intentions to try to steal our camera gear. To avoid this we have planned to stay near houses in the village which we know have people in them incase anything unexpected happen.
